DIY Minion Pinata

A year back when Lil' A was 3, he was crazy about minions. He still is but not that much. It was not just him, I loved them too. So my mind was bursting with minion inspired art & craft ideas. This is just one of them. We were having a party with the kiddos and thought a pinata would be appreciated by kids. So it was decided to make a home made pinata since it would be easier for 3-4 year olds. So I gathered all the needed material for the minion pinata I had envisioned in my mind. I am big on recycling/upcycling and don't want to lose any chance to teach my child how we can make things from extra/unwanted things.

We took a cereal box, crepe paper ribbon roll, blue and white card stock, googly eyes. I started by explaining my idea and how we are going to implement the design.
We started by Lil' A covering the bottom part, around 3 inches, with blue strip of card stock. Then I held the yellow crepe ribbon and Lil' A cut thin lines to give the fringed look. He spread glue all over the cereal box except the bottom blue part. I held the box and he wrapped the box. Overlapping in a manner so that only fringe would be visible.

I cut white circles and sunny boy glued his favorite googly eyes in center. I drew black lines for minion googles. Some more shapes from blue card stock for the blue overalls. I painted buttons in place.

Once done, it looked so cute!!! I was super proud of it!! Lil' A went on and on talking about how he is going to break the minion. "Its so cute are you sure" I said. It so happened that later I thought it was too small for the number of kids coming for the party , so we got a store bought simpler pinata .OK OK I admit I couldn't imagine those little monsters hitting and banging the minion..all our hard work!!! Its still in his room in form of decoration!!

This minion is inspired by the fabulous minion pinata I had seen here
